Dignity and self-respect

In this life we all have decisions to make, regardless, of what the decisions are or who we are. I also have a firm belief that everybody has the right to be treated with dignity, no matter the circumstances. I have sat back and watched, more and more people are being treated less than human and to me that is not right, not in the least.

Today, I had a Doctor’s appointment. I went to the appointment and signed in at the desk and I was given some paperwork to update my file. I don’t see an issue with keeping updated files, but the issue disturbed my spirit so much I had to walk out. The questions that were asked were so personal and had nothing to do with the appointment. I felt as if, if I had answered those questions on the paper work, I would have disrespected myself.

When we give our lives to Christ Jesus, He declares us a new creation. So, I had a choice to make, do I believe what my Father says about me in His Word, or do I allow some clinic to decide who I am? Do I allow some doctor or clinic to take away my dignity and self-respect?

I made the decision to walk out. It doesn’t matter who you are, you deserve dignity. Here, animals are treated with more dignity and respect than most humans. So here is my updated “treatment plan.” I choose to be treated as a human being worth more than a piece of trash.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
