I used to live my life being tormented by things I could and could not see. I was tormented by fear and paranoia. My life was a living hell, and I think that is an understatement. I felt powerless up against the things that came at me. I used to think my only solution was to take my life. Thank God, He didn’t allow that to happen.
“Who do you think you are? What are your credentials?” I am so glad you asked.
You are very right. I am not a therapist. However, I am a firm believer in Jesus. And I know from my own experience that He sets people free.
We so very often hear the Scripture,”whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” John 8:36.
But how many have really looked at that Scripture? This is the importance of reading the Scriptures for ourselves.
John 8:31-36 (ASV) Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples; 32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered unto him, We are Abraham’s seed, and have never yet been in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin. 35 And the bondservant abideth not in the house forever: the son abideth forever. 36 If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
When we live a life contrary to the Word of God, we open up doors for things to come in that torment our souls. Yes, we will have things that come up against us after we receive Christ into our lives, but here is the difference. We are given the authority to use the Word of God against them. They no longer have the right to torment us. We are not called to just exist and put up with the attacks of evil. We are not called to merely persist. We are called to walk in the divine favor of God. The attacks will come, but we don’t have to take it. We don’t have to deal with the torment of our minds. We are given weapons to fight with. The first step is to ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life. Then, get into the Word, the Scriptures for yourself. Find others that can help you navigate this rocky road called life. You don’t have to do it alone. Yes, I have heard how bad churches really are, but did you know, within these churches are really people like yourself. We are all struggling. There is not one person alive on this planet who is perfect. The only perfect one is Jesus.
So get out of the walls you have built around yourself. Go out and look for others who can help you. You will be amazed at what God can do in your life.
