Good morning, everybody

As I was sitting here in my favorite spot, enjoying this cool temperature of fall, a thought hit me. There are some things that are just not meant for others to see. In this day and time, everybody has a camera, pretty much. So, it is not uncommon for someone to be video recorded. However, back in the days before ready accessed cameras and video recorders, we had people that would actually stand in public places and do stuff to be seen. Some people would stand on the street corners or public squares and pray out loud to be heard like the pharisees in the Bible. We often see people who help the poor and homeless and yet have someone with a camera recording to show themselves helping people. What happened to doing things to help people in secret? Instead of blaring it across screens around the world. There are still people who don’t like to show their faces when they are hurting.

A few years ago, at Christmas, there was a young family that was having it really hard , help came to them in the way of presents for the children, food and even extra money, but along with that came someone with a video recorder. What should have been a precious moment became a nightmare of humiliation.

This father felt all dignity wash away because of someone else’s pride. Pride hurts other people, not just ourselves.

The holidays are almost here. And there are those that need assistance of some kind. But be nice and don’t help people with a spirit of pride. It is time to leave pride in the dirt where it belongs.
