Discernment is so, so very important, especially in these last days. I find it amazing, and I don’t think in a good way, at how subtle the enemy works his way into our lives to steal, kill, and destroy.
To steal not only our material wealth but our physical health, our hopes and dreams, and our voice to speak what is right and wrong.
He kills our passion for life and purpose. The problem is that we don’t see this enemy as an enemy until it is too late.
Then, he destroys all that matters in our lives and the lives of others, especially the ones that we love and care about. All the while spreading lies, deceiving those around us that we love the most.
The problem is that we do not listen to what God says about these things or these people. I was told by my one of my therapists a long time ago that people are generally good people, and the majority of people do not have evil in them. Over the years, I have come to realize I stand on my original idea. No, that idea is not true. I am seeing more and more people who truly have evil in their hearts, and the problem that I see is that they claim to believe in God. Then I remind myself that even the demons believe in Jesus and Satan, he can quote the Scriptures.
So we need discernment so much more than we have ever needed it before. The Scriptures say that even the very elite will be deceived.
John 10:10 (ESV) “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Jeremiah 17:9-11 (ESV) “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” 11 Like the partridge that gathers a brood that she did not hatch, so is he who gets riches but not by justice; in the midst of his days they will leave him, and at his end he will be a fool.“
Matthew 24:24-25 (ESV) “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.“
James 1:5-6 (ESV) “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
