In today’s world, almost everything is designed to be temporary. From the paper cup in your hand to the razor in your bathroom cabinet, we are conditioned to use things until they no longer serve us and then simply toss them aside. Most people don’t even give it a second thought.
But a dangerous shift has happened. We’ve started applying that “disposable” logic to living things. To animals. To relationships. And even to people.
I’ll be honest: in my own life, I have felt disposable more times than I can count. I am not perfect. In many ways, I am broken.
Have you noticed that society doesn’t have much patience for broken things—or broken people? Whether it’s a struggling marriage, a strained relationship with a child, or someone living with a disability, the world tends to look away. People often speak in mean, ugly ways about those who don’t “fit the mold,” tossing them aside like garbage because they aren’t “useful” or “perfect” anymore.
Here is the painful reality we all face: Nobody is the same. We come from different backgrounds and carry different scars. Nobody is perfect. There isn’t a single person on this earth who has it all together.
The only one who is truly perfect is Jesus Christ. And the most beautiful part? Even though He is perfect, He loves imperfect people. He doesn’t see “disposable” items; He sees priceless treasures.
We all need to change our vision.
It’s time we stop tearing each other down just because we see a few cracks. We need to start building people up. We need to look at life’s imperfections and see the beauty within them.
More importantly, stop tearing yourself down. If you are around people who don’t see your worth, remember: they are the ones with imperfect vision. They can’t see you for who you truly are.
You are wanted. You are God’s child, and He loves you no matter what. You aren’t a mistake, and you aren’t garbage to be thrown away. You are held in His hands.
So, take a deep breath. Straighten your shoulders. Put a smile on your face and start thanking Him for all He has done. In a world that treats everything as replaceable, remember this: To the Creator, you are irreplaceable.
Psalms 139:13-16 (ESV) For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
